Barnes and Nobles is a wonderful place to escape distractions.
Valentino...i really don't know how you did it. You survived the dangers of lions, humans out to kill you, and the Sahara Desert. You've seen the people close to you, die in front of your face, suffered from hunger, from pain, and from much worse. And to be able to adapt to another culture, another language, another lifestyle...what else can this world throw at you?
What i also found interesting was the conflict within his own people, in America and in Gumuro, the city they last go to before reaching Ethiopia. I would think that the sudanese people would be closer, as they are all they got, but to be separated by tribes, it weakens them, and they prefer to be like that? Also i found it sad that they didn't appreciate, Mary, the person trying to make a better life for them, and instead scorned her for her gifts to them. Not only that, but in Gumuro, when the richer group kicks out Achak's group, it reminds me of the aristocratic system, and how the rich have all the power, while the poor are left with nothing.
