I really don't know what to say...the first 108 pages were intense! To suffer so much, and still in his youth, it is amazing, miraculous even, to live and tell the tale!
I found it ironic that he would prefer to go back to Sudan rather than live in the U.S. He found America to be a place of hope, but also of corruption and evil not found in Sudan, and now, i find that maybe it is us who lives in a backwards society, rather than the Sudanese.
It is also ironic how different African-Americans are compared to the Sudanese. Comparing Powder to Valentino, we can see the cultural drift of people of the same origin, and how they conflict with each other.
Gotta love America.
