I'll skip the boring details and go into the flesh of it all.
Amir's view of Baba has dramatically changed ever since he learned the truth. That Hassan is his illegitimate brother. That Baba probably does all the good deeds he does in order to redeem himself, and to forgive himself. That the reason why Baba treated Hassan like his son was because...he was his son. And that he saw himself in Amir, and that's why he was so hard on his son. Does Amir forgive Baba for all of that? CAN he forgive Baba?
Irony once again strikes. Kabul, his once thriving city, is reduced to ruble and ashes. He meets the person who takes Hassan's son, Sohrab, and finds out that it's (you guessed it), Assef, who brings out his brass knuckles. AND, Sohrab, who has his slingshot, makes Assef Goshkhor, One-Eyed Assef. To top it all off, like his father, Sohrab was raped by Assef and his men. Doubletake.
And the ending...well i believe it's perfect.
